Update from Administrator – November 6, 2020

November 6, 2020
Hello,
As you may know, many Massachusetts health care centers are taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of residents and staff. Although it continues to be a difficult decision, restrictions to visits will continue. We are doing it to best protect the health and wellness of our residents. We know that seniors-particularly those with pre-existing medical conditions-are the most vulnerable population to the effects of the COVID-19 virus.

We continue to offer virtual visits, window visits, and outdoor visits as long as the weather will allow. We also offer indoor visits, scheduled in advance. Please note that if the community transmission rate becomes high, the indoor visitation condition could be amended. We appreciate the ongoing support and patience during the COVID-19 pandemic. Visitors will sign an agreement to follow visitation guidelines and copy of visitation guidelines will be provided. Updates for COVID19 at Lanessa will be communicated via phone call, emails, weekly zoom meeting on Fridays at 12:30pm, our website (www.LanessaCare.com), and our Facebook page.

• Visitors will be screened and used hand sanitizer prior to entry. Visitors will wear PPE for the duration of the visit.
• The resident will wear PPE for the duration of the visit.
• Food and other items may NOT be exchanged during the visit, however the staff may handoff those items to the resident once they arrive back to their unit.
• A visitor must remain at least 6 feet from the resident and attending staff member(s)
• Brief physical contact may be allowed if desired by both the resident and visitor. To reduce risk of transmission, individuals must:
-Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol before and after contact.
-Hug with faces in opposite directions
-Limit the duration of close physical contact and avoid close face-to-face contact even with the use of mandatory face mask.
• The unit, floor, or care area where the resident lives must not have any confirmed or suspected COVID-19 cases in residents or staff in the past 14 days. If we determine that a confirmed or suspected case within the facility presents a risk, we may suspend indoor visitation.

Our Lanessa Team understands these difficult times as it pertains to visiting your loved one and will do the very best for an enjoyable visit. We need everyone’s support in keeping all the residents safe at our center and kindly ask to respect the guidelines we have in place. True to DPH guidance, if at any time we feel the visit is in jeopardy and not adhered to, we will end visit and reschedule for a later date.

Thank you,
Jennifer Keddy
